Reviews
*Reviewed during covid* I feel like Kuma gets better and better each time I visit! In order to stay safe during covid, staff comes outside of the shop to take your order and delivers it to wherever your car is parked. This place is known for its freshly made bubble waffles, which comes paired with your choice of ice cream and toppings! They seem to keep adding flavors, many of which I'm not used to having, such as ube or coconut ice cream. The toppings are different from other ice cream places as well! You can choose quite a few of them, such as a marshmallow, Oreo, mochi, pocky sticks, strawberries, etc. I like that they have a sauce option as well. This time I got huckleberry ice cream, which is similar to blueberry ice cream, and ube sauce, and paired it with fruity pebbles, mochi, and green tea pocky. It sounds like it would be overbearing, but everything blends so nicely together. The bubble waffle is light and airy and pairs well with the thicker ice cream. The size is pretty large, so I recommend sharing with someone if you're coming here after a meal!
These drinks rule the Boba scene like MOCTEZUMA They're so popular, they make Nike look like PUMA Get a hot drink, keep it in a Thermal, like UMA It'll keep you up all night if you have to drive to YUMA Tastier than an Orange, but not a SATSUMA Helps you graduate Cum Laude, I'm talking SUMMA If you feel a lump in the drink, it's not a TUMA! And if you want a Boba in S.A., go to KUMA! WHAT! So Harald and Kuma went to White Castle, but at some point decided to go their separate ways. Harald is somewhere doing something, oh wait, I've just been informed he's running a newspaper on Florida's Gulf Coast which is named after him - the Sarasota Harald Tribune. Good for him, I hope the Sarasotans are nicer to him than they were to me. As for Kuma, well he took his satchel full of White Castles and apparently came over here and opened himself a Boba shop. And it's a pretty nice one, too. It was late night in San Antonio so we decided to come to Kumon which is a really nice place to get some drinks and a bubble waffle, which is Barbie's addiction and stuff. We didn't really love it, to be honest. The waffles are kind of hard and cooled down, dry like most friends I have in Texas, and flaky like most friends I have in California. And the drinks weren't great. But they weren't bad either, especially by San Antonio standards. It's a cute place, with cute decor and the service was nice, so we gave them a good rating for that. But overall, even by San Antonio standards, this was pretty average, and a little bit disappointing. Maybe Kuma should FaceTime Harald about throwing in the towel here and heading back over to White Castle to come up with a new plan.
Super delicious hole in the wall!!! 15mins before closing we found this place! Thank goodness they stay open pretty late for those late night sweet cravings. First there are no dairy free options so you pretty much wont be dining here if that's you. There's a chalk board full of ice cream and mixins with no descriptions. I went down the list and asked the cashier what each was. I ordered the unicorn ice cream with pocky, mermaid pearls, cereal and some sauce that I forgot the name of as soon as it was in my hands. The unicorn ice cream was very delicious had like a cotton candy vibe and taste to me. The bubble waffle was very delicious and airy. It was a little hard to eat and my toppings kept falling out but it was good. By the time we finished ordering our dessert was in our hands Atmosphere: super small with limited seating but very bright orange and colorful. Service: very good service with very friendly people and it was clean.
This place was absolutely delicious! This was just the cutest little ice cream shop. The ice cream was absolutely delicious, the waffle was amazing, and it was very aesthetically pleasing. It was a little pricey but 100% worth it!
Kuma is definitely a cute place to get a place to get a sweet tooth craving. They have so many different options which makes it really fun to put together a Hong Kong style egg waffles, which is definitely unique in San Antonio. We enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee ice cream and loved having almonds, chocolate poke, strawberries, and chocolate wafers with chocolate drizzle. While it is really cute, the final cost ended up being for: one ice cream flavor, four toppings, and one syrup a little over $8 with tax. I split it with two friends, and we all felt like we had a good amount. Positives: something different, a lot of variety, cute spot, really close to Nama Ramen if you want to eat dinner there and come here for dessert Negatives: very little seating, pricey for what you are getting
